Ketika beberapa ajang penghargaan memutuskan untuk mengundurkan agenda, Golden Globes 2022 tetap diselenggarakan dengan sangat tertutup pada 10 Januari pagi di The Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Tak ada kemeriahan karpet merah, tamu selebriti, apalagi semarak after-party yang sudah menjadi tradisi Golden Globes setiap tahunnya. Ajang penghargaan film dan acara televisi bergengsi ini juga tidak disiarkan di televisi maupun live streaming via internet. Netflix Original, “The Power of the Dog” menjadi pemenang Best Picture tahun ini, mengalahkan “Dune” dan “Belfast” yang cukup populer diperbincangkan sebagai film terbaik 2021.
Film musikal dari Steven Spielberg, “West Side Story” remake, juga menjadi film yang mendominasi kemenangan di berbagai kategori nominasi. Meski “Squid Game” kalah oleh “Succession” dalam nominasi Best Television Series Drama, O Yeong-su menjadi aktor Korea yang keluar sebagai pemenang Best Supporting Actor Television.
